Prologue 

Cortona, Italy

 

He came to her as he always did – and in the only way he could now –

in breathtaking dreams emerging from the depths of her heart

     ... that secret place where he alone dwelt.

 

Their time together had been their own private place

     ... a fragment of space in the vastness of the universe

     ... and yet those glorious hours would touch her world

         every moment she took breath

     ... and nothing could erase him from her memory.

 

She didn’t have the strength to regret her decision made so long ago –

she knew if she did, she couldn’t live with the pain...

 

     ...but she would always long for him in that secret place...

          ...the one she had made in her heart especially for him...

               ...every day, until she was no more.
