IDEAS TAKING SHAPE

Ideas for novels often come to Jennifer in the middle of the night or as she's going about her day-to-day happenings.  It isn't long before they find their way onto the pages of her ever-present journal to be included in the pages of her latest work.

Broken Pieces

Jennifer is currently working on her next novel Broken Pieces. This contemporary work tells the story of Sally and Ben, young Australian medical professionals who volunteer at a remote district hospital in Rwanda.  Arriving several years after the devastating and horrific months of the genocide, their expertise brings new life and hope to many of their new friends. Until, one day, an unexpected and tragic event brings far-reaching consequences.

With an eagerly awaited move to a quiet country town in the foothills of the Victorian High Country - one that hopefully won't be too long in coming - Jennifer's anticipated release date is early 2018.

For anyone interested in taking a sneak peak, a scene from the first draft can be found on the SAMPLES page on the menu bar.

Yesterday's Secrets - Tomorrow, Jerusalem

A tentative working title for a new novel which is beginning to form in the author's imagination.  At present residing solely on the pages of her journal in hurried jottings and small vignettes that come to her in the most unexpected places, Jennifer is looking forward to adding flesh, bone and conversation to the characters currently rolling around in her head and heart.

Portia's Great Aussie Adventure

For many years, Jennifer has had the idea to create a picture book for 4-7 year olds, telling the story of Portia, a tiny pygmy possum, travelling around Australia using all different methods of transport and experiencing all sorts of adventures.  Along the way she meets a variety of animals and people, some who will share portions of her adventures.  By the end of her journey, Portia realises no matter how exciting it is to see the world, home is still the best place to be.

The author's vision is for children to read this book and then want to get out and explore this amazing world themselves.  She sees it as a tool that could be used in classrooms for social studies lessons, where students could then research those places and animals mentioned to see what else they can discover in this beautiful country Downunder.  With the writing component now complete, she is hopeful a publishing house will see the potential in this new work and be willing to take it on board.
