SNAPSHOTS OF JENNIFER'S EXPERIENCE & PASSIONS

In addition to writing novels, Jennifer also has a passion for writing children's picturebooks for use as educational tools.  In 2002, she was awarded first prize for writing the lyrics for the school anthem of a very large Queensland primary school which is still sung during Friday morning assembly each week.  In October 2011, she attained first prize honours for a review she wrote extolling the exquisite excellence of Doctor Zhivago - A New Musical.  The Queensland Performing Arts Complex hosted a new competition for patrons who attended any shows held in the extensive entertainment centre and Jennifer was the inaugural winner in 2011.

This same brilliant and stirring musical was the catalyst for Jennifer to leave behind her career as a Court Reporter to take up writing as her new full-time profession ... and she enjoys every minute.  As mentioned on her bio page, Jennifer's catch-cry is, "Writing is like going on holidays every day without the expense ... I can take my characters anywhere, to do anything ... all from the comfort of my study."

In addition to writing novels, she is an official writer and reviewer for the Starts at Sixty website and Facebook Page that together cater to over a million followers worldwide.  Her articles include outlining her impressions on travel destinations donated by travel agents/resorts, reviewing pre- and post-release book titles offered by individual publishing houses, critiquing movies/shows requested by cinemas and musical theatre productions, as well as penning in-depth one-off pieces on any subject that happens to tickle her fancy.  She has also been invited to write for the professional networking site LinkedIn

Jennifer lives in an inner-city apartment in Brisbane with her long-suffering husband – from nights left alone as she keeps a computer company instead of him – and truckloads of family photos to remind her of what really matters.  Often suffering from itchy feet, she finds the best way to scratch them is to visit her only daughter and grandson in Melbourne, as well as travelling this beautiful planet to explore new places - some of which become fascinating locations in her novels.  Her love of all things musical means titbits of various genres find their way into each one - whether as a building block to the storyline or as a means of bringing solace to her characters during tough times.  Writing, spending time with loved ones (especially her much-adored only grandson), singing in her community church, musical theatre & those gorgeous creatures whose manes and tails fly in the wind are her ultimate passions - oh, and a good cup of coffee is a welcome companion to keep the creative juices flowing!
