"DELIGHTFUL! - 4.0 out of 5 stars:  Lara and her 4-year-old daughter have moved to a new town trying to start over after the painful breakdown of her marriage 3 years ago. Lara is desperate for peace and a new start and so joins a small theatre company. She is a beautiful woman with a voice to match and finds the latest production a balm for her soul.  Adam has also joined the theatre company to try to find an escape from his alcoholic wife and disastrous married life. People do not usually associate marital abuse with a wife abusing a husband but it does happen. It can be a way for a selfish woman to keep her lifestyle while keeping her husband under her control.  Without warning or predetermination, they find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. Their cold damaged hearts seemingly springing to life again.  This is a truly sweet love story. Two people who find each other when they needed it most.  The book is so descriptive about their lives and problems and the time spent together. They travel to Europe together and the places described by the author are so wonderful that you cannot help but feel you are tagging along with them.  This is not a story that goes into great erotic detail and so is suitable for any romantic. It is such a clean tale. This is a massive story and it is only half of the story of Lara and Adam! I go through books at the speed of sound but this one has taken me almost a week.  What a great read." - Marlene, 9 December 2015 - Starts at Sixty Book Club Website & Amazon.com.au

"AMAZING, BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN NOVEL OF PERSONAL DISCOVERY AND LOVE.  A MUST READ FOR LOVERS OF PASSION, INTIMACY AND THEATRE. - 5.0 out of 5 stars:  WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS

From the moment I heard about this new romantic novel written by Brisbane author Jennifer Larmar I was intrigued to say the least. The cover artwork of Silken Images was enough to capture both my mind and heart ... adventure and love in the most romantic of places filled my thoughts even before my fingers hit the purchase button that would download this intimate and elegant novel onto my kindle.

When I first open a novel, flicking through in this case with subtle swipes of my phone screen, it does not take me all too long to decide whether I wish to pursue the reading venture any further. The first chapter for me is usually make or break. Either I read the book for one chapter and then slam it closed, shelving it to become a dust magnet, or I will read the book for one chapter and have trouble falling asleep or doing anything else until I finish the book. I am here to report that it was definitely the latter...

From the moment I began to read Silken Images I was intrigued by how the words bounced off the page with ease ...The use of easy to read words and language tangled with the added usage of other languages (like the use of Italian in Tuscany and Florence) added to the authenticity which made you feel as though you had been teleported into the story, walking beside the characters as they experienced the pinnacle heights of happiness, the spiralling pains of heartache and everything in between as they travelled on their journey...

Through the secondary characters such as Lara’s sister, Suzie, and her daughter, Nikki, as well as Adam’s foster parents, Charles and Elizabeth, we are allowed a glance into their lives, moments, feelings and relationships that Lara and Adam have struggled to portray.  Jennifer has done a marvellous job allowing us to see it from this secondary point of view before we are drawn back to our main characters.

Throughout the book we establish feelings and thoughts for each of the characters and either grow to love or hate them, some taking us longer than others to decide on their fates.

What drew me most to this book in the first place was the link to Australian musical theatre ... This is something many, including myself, can relate to - the feelings that musical theatre gives us; lost in the music, captured by passion and transported to places we can only dream of.

I was even more intrigued and unable to put the book down as we were taken on a beautiful and graphic journey with Lara, Adam and Nikki through their visit to Europe.  Jennifer’s use and obvious knowledge and passion for these places shone through the pages as we, as readers, are encouraged to taste the tantalising foods and climb to the highest peaks as the story reaches a pivotal crescendo...

Suddenly as a blank page hits you in the face as your stop comes up and the journey finishes ... you want nothing more than to bury yourself in its magical pages for another eight hours...

I am thankful for the opportunity to read this book that has ignited my thoughts ... and I cannot wait to go on the journey again with Adam, Lara and Jennifer in the next instalment."  - Nichole, Plainlands, 29 Dec 2013 - Amazon.com.au & Amazon.com
